Up Them Mountains!

(This reading is based on Psalm 125 and is read in accordance with the Revived by His Word initiative of the General Conference of SDAs.)
It's interesting that not only are those who trust in God said to be surrounded by Him as by mountains, but are themselves like mountains (Mount Zion). Some interesting observations about mountains include:

1. Mountains stand taller than average plains. How well does our integrity stand up in the world today?

2. Typically mountains are not easily conquered. Are we often tossed by to and fro by every passing wind, or are we standing firm?

3. Mountains cause onlookers to look up. Do we cause people to look up... to God?

4 Mountains often serve as shields or refuge. Are we a shield or refuge for the poor, the destitute, children, and the aged? Do we preserve standards of holiness, decency and uprightness?

5. Mountains tend to be cooler than the plains. Are we as Christians "cool," or hot-headed? Are we the ones to always pacify or do we tend to push fire?

Father please help us to know that we have a standard to hold up as Your children, and when all is said and done, may it be that we all would have stood our ground; unmoved as a mountain, amen.
