But the Word of God....

This reading is based on Acts 12 that is read in accordance with the Revived by His Word initiative of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
So James, the brother of John, is killed. Peter is next in line. He's captured, and kept in a maximum security facility. Their crime? Preaching Jesus - much to the chagrin of the Jewish leaders who hated Jesus. Peter is kept in store for an opportuned time to be made a spectacle for the barbaric delight of the Jews, while affording Herod some measly scored political points with the Jews. But alas, God had a different time table for Peter and he was miraculously delivered from prison. This prison-break coincided with the prayer of the saints for Peter's deliverance.Someone else's time was up however... Herod's. He probably had no one praying for him, an had run his treacherous course, went too far and was duly rewarded with a miserable death.
These were indeed the best of times, and the worst of times; some saints were delivered; others died; "But the word of God grew and multiplied." Acts 12: 24. The word of God is:
A lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path - Ps. 119: 105
A sharp sword - Eph. 6: 17; Heb. 4: 12
Truth - Ps. 119: 160; John 17: 17
His sanctifying agent - John 17: 17
Profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness - 2 Tim. 3: 16
Father, as we study Your word each day, may it do to us as it did for those who have been positively impacted we pray. As You spoke in the creation week speak now to our hearts and may change come to us we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
